Braving the cold, battling the winds, they forged ahead
Neither looking left nor looking right, they only looked ahead
They saw one nation, one land, one anthem and one flag flying high
"Uphold her glory, her honour", they called to each other!
Are they to be revered or to be remembered?
Are they amongst us or here despite us?
Are they mere mortals or heavenly souls?
Or perhaps they are ahead of us, miles galore?
They know not who we are
Or the extent that we can fathom
They know not our wavering minds
Nor the frivolity that we can offer
Yet, they live to fight another day, to harbor our 'morrows
They do more than we can ever do
While we hide behind our shadows
They stand where we can never stand
While we crawl back into our shallows
Yet, the flag flies high and they march on
For, they pledged with fervor,
To uphold her glory and honour, forever and beyond....
